All children can and should learn math with understanding. In order to teach math for understanding, we need to understand how children think about math. This blog describes what I have learned about children's mathematics from working with children, teachers and teacher leaders as a member of the Cognitively Guided Instruction research and development team. The people I write about on this blog have all given me permission to share their stories. In some cases identifying information has been altered to protect their privacy.
